HL Deb 25 July 1994 vol 557 c63WA
Lord Spens

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How many (a) members of the judiciary and (b) employees of the Crown Prosecution Service are the subject of enquiry by the Fraud Investigation Group as detailed in the report Review of the Handling of Serious Fraud—March 1994 (page 38—paragraph 5.22)

The Lord Chancellor

The paragraph refers to investigations by the Fraud Investigation Group into the activities of several firms of solicitors between about 1982 and 1991. In one case an employed solicitor in one of the firms concerned has since been employed by the CPS. Inquiries have now been concluded and have revealed no ground for prosecution in respect of that individual. In another case a former partner in another firm has since become a circuit judge. Inquiries in the latter case have not yet been concluded.
