§ Mr. Robin SquireFor the purpose of determining standard spending assessments, the education component of standard spending, net of specific grants, is divided into five sub-blocks—under-fives, primary, secondary, 16-plus, and other education. There is no standard spending assessment specifically for nursery education as the under-fives sub-block notionally includes spending on under-fives in primary schools as well as pupils in nursery schools and in nursery classes. Local education authority spending figures are not available in a form comparable to the five sub-blocks.
