Mr. Bayley

To ask the Secretary of State for Health, pursuant to her answer of 21 February,Official Report, column 347–48, if she will update the information on NHS expenditure to include estimates for 1994–95; and if she will adjust the appropriate figures in the tables on the basis of current prices.

Mr. Sackville

The information will be placed in the Library. It is not possible to adjust for changes in the input unit costs beyond 1990–91 for capital expenditure or for national health service current expenditure, or beyond 1992–93 for hospital and community health services current expenditure.

Mr. Bayley

To ask the Secretary of State for Health, pursuant to her answer of 21 February,Official Report, column 925–926, on health services expenditure, if she will adjust the figures by (a) the gross domestic product deflator and (b) input unit costs to include figures for (i) 1992–93, (ii) 1993–94 and (iii) estimates for 1994–95; and if she will recalculate the appropriate figures in the new tables on the basis of current prices.

The tables referred to have been updated and will be placed in the Library. They now include programme budget figures for 1991–92 and 1992–93 in place of provisional provider based estimates used previously. Expenditure figures for 1993–94 and estimates for 1994–95 are not yet available. Expenditure estimates adjusted for input unit costs are not yet available at 1993–94 prices.

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what has been spent in real terms outside the NHS by purchasers in each year since 1990(a) in total, (b) by regional health authority and (c) by district health authority.
