HC Deb 21 July 1994 vol 247 cc586-91W
Mr. Win Griffiths

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales how many medical emergency admissions were made by each hospital in each of the last five years; and what assessment he has made of these figures on the planning for bed provision in Wales.

Mr. Gwilym Jones

[holding answer 4 July 1994]: The following table shows, for each of the last five years for which data are available, the number of immediate admissions to hospitals in Wales, excluding those which were classified as mental handicap or mental illness.

The provision of hospital beds is a matter for health authorities and NHS trusts. It is their responsibility to ensure that beds are available for those who need them.
