§ Mr. CohenTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will clarify the London fire and civil defence authority's reasons for not having five pumping applicances in the north-east area of the London fire brigade available for operational service on the night of Sunday 26 June.
§ Mr. MacleanI have been informed by the chief fire officer that on the evening of 26 June five pumping appliances were unavailable because of unusually high levels of sick leave. The brigade was nevertheless able to ensure that the required levels of service were delivered to the public.
