To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he now intends to proceed with the procurement of Spearfish torpedoes for Trident submarines as well as the Swiftsure and Trafalgar class.

Mr. Aitken

The Spearfish torpedo, which entered service with the Royal Navy earlier this year, replaces the Tigerfish torpedo in all Royal Navy submarines. The tender for the main production order for Spearfish torpedoes is currently being considered.
