To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what evidence he has as to the effect on traffic bunching on motorways of the use of the middle and outside lanes as cruising lanes rather than as overtaking lanes.

Poor lane discipline on motorways causes delay and reduces vehicle throughput, particularly at high traffic flows.
