HL Deb 20 July 1994 vol 557 c37WA
Lord Williams of Elvel

asked Her Majesty's Government:

When they propose to introduce the environment agency paving a Bill referred to in the gracious speech at the opening of this Session of Parliament.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State Department of the Environment (The Earl of Arran)

As my right honourable friend the Lord President said in another place last week, there is now no prospect of passing the environment agencies paving Bill before the Summer Recess. However, the Government remain committed to introducing legislation to establish the agencies as soon as parliamentary time allows and, as the Lord President also said, good progress is being made on a main Bill.
