To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many more psychologists have become available since the introduction of care in the community to facilitate the programme; and how is the increase funded.

Clinical psychologists are employed in the national health service on a variety of duties in both the hospital and community health sectors. The total number of clinical psychologists working in the national health service in the period since 1984 is shown in the table.
