§ Mrs. FyfeTo ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what was the total public expenditure on child care services for pre-school children under the age of five years, by sector, including all local authority provision and grants for the voluntary sector, for each year from 1989–90 to 1993–94; and what was the total public expenditure on these services as a percentage of the gross domestic product for Scotland, in each of these years.
§ Mr. StewartServices for children under five are provided from public expenditure by local authorities and from grants from the Scottish Office under the urban programme and under sections 9 and 10 of the Social Work (Scotland) Act 1968.
