§ Mrs. DunwoodyTo ask the Secretary of State for Transport, pursuant to his answer of 14 June,Official Report, column 521, (1) what estimates have been made by the DVLA of the total number and value of vehicle excise discs that will have to be stored on car dealers' premises in any one year if the AFRL scheme is fully implemented across the country;
(2) what constitutes a secure environment for vehicle excise discs; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. KeyThe hon. Member can be assured that the position of the Exchequer has been safeguarded in the security arrangements made, which include storage in appropriate safes. It would compromise the measures taken if I were to provide full details, just as it would to draw attention to the number and value of the discs to be held.
