HL Deb 13 July 1994 vol 556 c102WA
Lord Avebury

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will arrange for United Nations documents to be sent by E-mail to the Librarian of the House, rather than in hard copy.

Baroness Chalker of Wallasey

The new UN computer system, which enables missions to gain electronic access to all key documents, is only available to diplomatic missions in New York and Geneva at present. However, this is in itself a partial service, owing to continuing technical problems. We are working with them with a view to extending this to capital cities. We are also working with the Librarian of the House to see how transmission of such documents can be facilitated in the interim.
