Mr. John M. TaylorThe Lord Chancellor's role is governed by the Courts and Legal Services Act 1990. Under that Act, amendments made by authorised bodies to their rules and regulations require the approval of the Lord Chancellor and the four designated judges. The Lord Chancellor is also required to approve applications under section 55 of the 1990 Act—preparation of probate papers—and, in doing so, must be satisfied about the arrangements for training.
