To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what are the death rates per million from fire(a) in the United Kingdom and (b) in each other European Union country.

There were 14 fire deaths per million population in the United Kingdom in 1992, the latest year for which figures are available. Data are not available for other EU countries.
