To ask the Secretary of State for National Heritage if he will make a statement on Government policy towards cross-media ownership.

Mr. Brooke

I announced on 3 January that I would be reviewing the rules which restrict cross-media ownership. Ministers will be considering a report by officials during the summer. The timing of an announcement about the outcome will depend on a number of factors, including the nature of those recommendations and any legislative implications.
