§ Dr. MawhinneyThe number of hospital beds in London will depend, in large part, on the assessment by local health authorities, general practitioner fundholders and hospitals of the future requirement for in-patient, day case and out-patient services to best meet the needs of their patients. Also, more patients from outside London are being treated locally, further reducing the need for hospital beds in London.
