HC Deb 04 July 1994 vol 246 c27W
Mr. Worthington

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what representations the British Government have made to the Nigerian Government about the release of Moshood Abida.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

We strongly regret the arrest of Chief Abiola and called on the Nigerian military Government to engage all sides in a constructive political dialogue. The European Union issued a statement on 30 June condemning the arrest and urging respect for human rights.
