To ask the President of the Board of Trade what records of time, expenses and costs are kept where his Department's officers act as inspectors under the Companies Acts.

Records are kept of the expenses incurred by departmental inspectors and, since 1991, of the time spent on individual inspections. Time costs are calculated taking into account salaries, associated costs, and general overheads including accommodation costs.
