§ Mr. Ingram
To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will provide a figure for the number of staff in his Department covered by statutory sick pay.

§ Mr. Gummer
The number of staff in the Department and its agencies covered by statutory sick pay at 31 December 1993 was 7,421.

§ Mr. Ingram
To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, pursuant to his answer of 19 January,Official Report, column 674, what are the additional costs, net of any reduction in employer's national insurance contributions, to his departmental budget for the financial year 1994–95 of the changes in statutory sick pay provision.

§ Mr. Gummer
There should be no net costs to my departmental budget.
