HL Deb 31 January 1994 vol 551 c84WA
Lord Stoddart of Swindon

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether Southampton General Hospital employs a uniformed security officer to patrol the hospital grounds to detect people who may be smoking in the open air and, if so, what is the cost of this officer and do they believe this is a sensible use of taxpayers' money.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Health (Baroness Cumberlege)

This is a local matter. I understand, however, that the Southampton General Hospital does not employ such a person.
