HC Deb 28 January 1994 vol 236 c454W
Mr. Ieuan Wyn Jones

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales when he expects to publish guidelines for education authorities in Wales regarding changes to the national curriculum in primary schools.

Sir Wyn Roberts

I announced on 5 January that the national curriculum in Wales would be slimmed down to allow schools more time to use at their discretion. Proposals for national curriculum orders, setting out the new requirements, will be issued for consultation around Easter. Schools and local education authorities in Wales will receive details of the revised national curriculum requirements at each key stage during the spring term in 1995. The revised curriculum will come into force for the 1995–96 school year.
