To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will give(a) the maximum, (b) the minimum and (c) the average amount paid out under the arable area payments scheme in Wales in the latest available year; and if he will make a statement.

Amounts paid under the 1992–93 scheme are in the order of:

Maximum payment 34,300.00
Minimum payment 70.00
Average payment 1,700.00

These figures do not include payments for oilseeds because the final instalment is not due to be paid until early 1994.
