HL Deb 27 January 1994 vol 551 c80WA
Lord Brougham and Vaux

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What plans they have to introduce an award for Service personnel which recognises frequent tours of duty in theatres which attract the award of the General Service Medal.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Ministry of Defence (Viscount Cranborne)

Her Majesty the Queen has graciously approved the introduction of a new medal for aggregated service since 14 August 1969 in those theatres where the General Service Medal (1962) with clasp has been awarded. The medal is to be known as the Accumulated Campaign Service Medal. Details of the medal are contained in a Command Paper presented today in another place by my right honourable friend the Prime Minister. A copy of the paper has been placed in the Library.
