To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what proportion of a sheriff's time is taken on(a) civil and (b) criminal and other work.

§ Lord James Douglas-Hamilton
It is estimated that, on average, 30 per cent. of a sheriff's time is spent on civil work and 70 per cent. on criminal and other work.
