HC Deb 26 January 1994 vol 236 c287W
Mr. Wicks

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what information he has on the number of families who experience multiple unemployment.

Miss Widdecombe

The labour force survey shows that, in summer 1993, the estimated number of families in Great Britain in which two or more people were unemployed, on the International Labour Organisation definition, was 227,000. This represented 1.5 per cent. of all families in which there were at least two people aged 16 or over.
