§ Mr. Stewart[holding answer 20 January 1994]: My Department has sent three letters to Scottish councils regarding EC Directive 92/50. A letter dated 13 July 1993 reminded councils that the directive came into force on 1 July 1993; on 17 December 1993, councils were sent the letter was issued on 13 January 1994 which advised councils that the directive had been transposed into United Kingdom law by the Public Service Contract Regulations 1993, SI 3228.
