HC Deb 26 January 1994 vol 236 c301W
Mr. Gordon Prentice

To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many children aged under 16 years suffer from developmental delay and learning difficulties where it has not been possible to establish the reason.

Mr. Bowis

Three to four per 1,000 children are known to have severe learning disabilities. In at least a quarter of these cases the cause is unknown.
