To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what provisions govern the use by members of the Metropolitan police of their position of advantage to sell stories to the press.

Under schedule 1, paragraphs 6 and 7 of the Police (Discipline) Regulations 1985, an offence against discipline is committed where a member of a police force without proper authority communicates to any person, any information which he has in his possession
