HC Deb 25 January 1994 vol 236 c140W
Mr. Harry Greenway

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what is his latest assessment of the impact on United Kingdom-Polish relations of the suspension of the permit of Lot Airlines to land at Heathrow.

Mr. Douglas Hogg

We remain concerned at the suspension of air services between Britain and Poland. This is an air services dispute and has no impact on our current friendly relations with Poland. We want to see the situation resolved as soon as possible.

There has been a number of contacts recently with the Polish Government and I hope there will be an early meeting of officials to discuss a framework for the resumption of services. We are making every effort to secure a settlement which will be in the interests of both the airlines involved and the travelling public, and be consistent with the principles which govern aviation in the European Union.
