§ Mr. MaddenTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department when the immigration service received advance knowledge of charter flight ULE 966 which landed at Gatwick airport on 21 December; when the immigration service received from the charter company a passenger list; whether this list was volunteered or requested; how many people named as passengers had(a) previously been refused entry to the United Kingdom and (b) previously been refused entry clearance to the United Kingdom; how many passengers, in either category, were (i) refused entry as a visitor, (ii) detained and (iii) deported on 25 December; and how many passengers in either category were given (1) entry to the United Kingdom and (2) given temporary admission.
§ Mr. Charles WardleThe immigration service was informed about flight ULE 966 on 16 December and the passenger list was requested subsequently. It was received on 21 December, three and a half hours before the aircraft's arrival. Of those passengers listed, two were identified as having previously been refused entry; eight were identified as having been refused entry clearance and one of whom had also been refused entry.
Of those nine passengers, five were refused entry and four were granted leave to enter. Four passengers were detained for at least one night; five were granted temporary admission. Three passengers were removed on 25 December.
