To ask the Secretary of State for Education if he will review the status of food technology in the national curriculum at key stage 3 following the Dearing report.

No decisions have yet been made about the new requirements for national curriculum technology to be introduced in 1995. The responsibility for continuing the review of the existing requirements, so as to take account of the Dearing report, rests currently with the School Curriculum and Assessment Authority. My right hon. Friend expects to receive the authority's recommendations for revision in April.
