HC Deb 20 January 1994 vol 235 c780W
19. Mr. Winnick

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will make a statement on the latest political developments for Northern Ireland.

Mr. Ancram

The Government have intensified their efforts to develop dialogue between the two Governments and the main constitutional parties in Northern Ireland. I am holding further private, bilateral discussions with the Northern Ireland parties, following on earlier discussions last autumn, and we are continuing discussions with the Irish Government on matters of mutual interest, including constitutional issues. It remains our objective to return to multilateral talks involving the two Governments and four main constitutional parties at an appropriate point.
