HC Deb 20 January 1994 vol 235 c816W
Mr. Alan Williams

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will quantify the cost of the factors which led to a fall in the cost of cars for Ministers in his Department since 1990–91.

Mr. Hanley

The reduction of £25,000 in the cost of providing ministerial cars since 1990–91 is due essentially to the number of Ministers in the Department falling from five to four since 1990–91, resulting in a cost saving of £11,000, and the return to normal usage following heightened ministerial requirements during the Gulf conflict, which accounts for a reduction of £14,000.
