HC Deb 20 January 1994 vol 235 c724W
Mr. Alan Williams

To ask the Attorney-General if he will quantify the cost of the factors which led to an increase in the cost of cars for Ministers in his Department since 1990–91.

The Solicitor-General

For the period 1990–91 to 1992–93 there was an increase in the cost of providing cars for Ministers of £9,700 accounted for primarily by (i) increases in pay, and the cost of vehicles and fuel, and (ii) restructuring by the Government car service of its charges to reflect the fact that it had been under-recovering its full costs in 1990–91.
