Mr.Bradley

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security how many invalidity benefit claimants are aged under 58 years and to receive the higher rate of the care component of the disability living allowance.

Mr.Scott

[holding answer 17 January 1994] On a April 1992, the latest date for which figures are available, there were 765,000 people under the age of 58 receiving invalidity benefit1. Reliable estimates of the number of invalidity benefit claimants not receiving the higher rate care component of disability living allowance are not available.
