HC Deb 20 January 1994 vol 235 c731W
Mr. Mackinlay

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what guidelines exist for the use by police of informants in relation to their pursuit of fighting large-scale drug traffic.

Mr. Charles Wardle

General guidelines about the use of informants by the police are set out in Home Office circulars Nos. 97/1969 and 9/1992, copies of which are available in the Library. These circulars deal with the police use of informants to investigate all crime and not specifically drug-related crime.
