HC Deb 19 January 1994 vol 235 c613W
Mr. Hanson

To ask the Secretary of State for Education if he will make it his policy to allow parents and schools access to marked external examination papers on written request.

Mr. Robin Squire

The GCE and GCSE examination bodies are independent of Government. It is for them to decide whether to alow external access to marked examination papers. Where candidates are dissatisfied with their results they may appeal through their school or college to the relevant examination body and, if necessary, to the Independent Appeals Authority for School Examinations.
