§ Mr. NelsonA total of 1,175 official Christmas cards were sent by Ministers and 2,497 by civil servants in the Treasury in 1993. These cards cost £1,028.16 to buy. No record is available of the methods used to deliver the cards which would enable an accurate assessment to be made of postage costs. Equally no record is available of staff time involved in signing, addressing and placing the Christmas cards in envelopes.
