HC Deb 18 January 1994 vol 235 c514W
Mr. Ieuan Wyn Jones

To ask the President of the Board of Trade what is the average cost of(a) erecting and (b) maintaining local low-power television relay masts in the United Kingdom.

Mr. McLoughlin

The average cost of erecting a low-power broadcaster's television relay station is in the order of £40,000, with maintenance costs of about £3,000 per year. However, these costs can be markedly affected by factors such as site rental and access, laying-on of electricity at remote sites, and mast erection and equipment housing.
