HC Deb 18 January 1994 vol 235 cc503-4W
Mr. Llew Smith

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what discussions he, or his predecessors, have held since 1982 with his counterpart in the United States, or with officials in the United States Department of Defense in regard to (a) the implications for United Kingdom policy of the United States removing Iraq from its priority list of terrorist states and (b) the provision of arms, military equipment or defence-related technology to Iraq by the United States or its allies.

Mr. Hanley

Since 1982, my right hon. and learned Friend and his predecessors have had frequent discussions with their United States counterparts covering a wide range of security and defence issues. The topics in question may have been included, but it would involve disproportionate cost to establish the details of such discussions.
