HC Deb 17 January 1994 vol 235 c384W
Mr. David Porter

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement about the accountability of the World bank and the International Monetary Fund to Parliament; and what plans he has to make changes to improve accountability to national Parliaments.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

The World bank and the IMF are accountable to their shareholders, including the United Kingdom. The Government are accountable to Parliament for payments made to these institutions. These arrangements work and we therefore have no current plans to change them.
