To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement about the impact of conflict in Sudan on the United Kingdom"s aid programme to that area.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

We closed our aid projects in southern Sudan in 1986 due to the conflict. In 1991, the continuing civil war was one factor in the decision to terminate our aid programme completely.
