To ask the Prime Minister (1) on what date or dates he has received a letter or letters from Mr. Gerry Adams, president of Sinn Fein, seeking clarification of the joint declaration; if he will place a copy of the letter or letters in the Library; when he intends to reply to Mr. Adams; and if he will place a copy of his letter or letters to Mr. Adams in the Library;

(2) if he will give the precise terms of clarification of the joint declaration sought by Mr. Gerry Adams, president of Sinn Fein, in communications with him since the joint declaration was published ; what were the precise terms of his responses to such communications; and if he will make a statement.

The Prime Minister

I received an unsigned letter on Mr. Adams's headed notepaper, dated 7 January 1994, last week. It is being considered and no response has yet been made.
