To ask the Secretary of State for Health what evidence she has of the effect of a ban on cigarette promotion on levels of smoking.

§ Mr. Sackville
The Department of Health discussion document "Effect of tobacco advertising on tobacco consumption" reviewed the evidence on the effect of tobacco bans in other countries. The report makes no estimate of the effect of an advertising ban in the United Kingdom. Copies of the report, published in October 1992, are available in the Library.
