HC Deb 11 January 1994 vol 235 c12W
Mr. Chris Smith

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what is the remit, the name of the organisation conducting the work, the publication date and the cost of the survey he has commissioned into hedgerows and ponds in England and Wales; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Atkins

The current hedgerow survey aims to assess the type and amount of changes to hedgerows and ponds which occurred between 1984, 1990 and 1993 in England and Wales. The work is being undertaken by the Institute of Terrestrial Ecology and will be completed by 31 March 1994. The results will be published as soon as possible thereafter. The Department's maximum total liability for the work is £87,988.
