§ Mr. ScottAdvertising the introduction of disability living allowance—DLA—in the publications and on the television stations shown in the table, was one part of a successful, multi-stranded publicity campaign which was targeted at disabled people, carers, advisers and health professionals. By the end of November 1993 over one million claims to DLA had been processed and over a half a million awards of benefit made.

All aspects of the social fund are closely monitored, including the guidance issued to social fund officers.
§ Mr. PikeTo ask the Secretary of State for Social Security what is the normal maximum repayment period for a loan from the social fund; what changes to that period he is considering; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. ScottThe normal maximum repayment period for a social fund loan is 78 weeks although this can be extended to 104 weeks. All aspects of the social fund are closely monitored, including repayment periods for loans.
