Mr. Robert Ainsworth
To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what are the reporting mechanisms for homelessness as used to calculate standard spending assessments.

§ Mr. Baldry
The information on homelessness used in the calculation of standard spending assessments is taken from the annual housing investment programme returns completed by local authorities.

§ Mr. Steinberg
To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list by region the bed-and-breakfast hostels for the homeless that have (i) been opened and (ii) been closed in each yeare since 1990.
