§ Mr. MartlewTo ask the Secretary of State for Defence, pursuant to his answer of 21 January,Official Report, column 940, whether the figures given of the number of women who left the armed forces since 1980 because they became pregnant also include female officers who prior to 1986 were employed in the armed forces as medical, dental, veterinary and legal specialists.
§ Mr. HanleyNo. The figures for the years 1980–81 to 1990–91 do not include female officers in the medical, dental, veterinary and legal specialisations who left the services as a result of pregnancy. The figures for these officers could only be provided at disproportionate cost and effort.
