To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many general practitioners in the Barnsley, East constituency are NHS fundholders; and what plans she has to make it obligatory for general practitioners who are fundholders to inform their patients of their status.

Friend the Secretary of State in her reply to my hon. Friend the Member for Calder Valley (Sir D. Thompson) on 7 December 1993 at columns198–200.

We would expect GP fundholders to inform patients about their fundholding status in the most appropriate way, and the National Health Service Management Executive has produced a patient information leaflet to assist with this, copies of which are available in the Library.
