HC Deb 22 February 1994 vol 238 cc172-3W
Mr. Llew Smith

To ask the President of the Board of Trade, pursuant to his answer to the hon. Member for Bradford, South (Mr. Cryer) of 4 February,Official Report, column 946, what is the reason for details of CFC exports from the United Kingdom being confidential only since 1990.

Mr. McLoughlin

Trade in any particular commodity may be dominated by one or two manufacturers or traders. In such a case, the companies concerned may request Her Majesty's Customs and Excise to suppress publication of detailed figures on the grounds of commercial sensitivity. In the case of CFC exports, suppression has been invoked since 1991.
